Position Requirements

Successful candidates should be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely
  • Read and interpret both metric and imperial measurements using a tape measure
  • Operate equipment safely, including forklifts, production machinery, and chainsaws
  • Operate forklifts confidently in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Work comfortably in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow

AcuTruss Industries is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Structural Designer to join our Kelowna team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, working with customers, and seeing their designs become real products. Experience is an asset, but AcuTruss is willing to provide in-house training and practical experience in our manufacturing facility to the right candidate.

What You’ll Do

As a Structural Designer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design and detail structural wood components using MiTek Sapphire/Structure and related software
  • Design roof trusses for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects
  • Design engineered floor joist systems
  • Design structural wood beams, including LVL, Glulam, and PSL
  • Design steel beams
  • Design and supply NUDURA ICF systems
  • Design wall panels
  • Prepare quotations and produce orders for manufacturing
  • Review plans and interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Coordinate product deliveries and project requirements
  • Communicate professionally with customers by phone, email, and text
  • Work closely with sales, production, engineering, and other team members
  • Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and customer expectations

Education & Experience

A Civil Engineering Technology diploma or Red Seal Carpenter certification is preferred, but not required.

Experience in structural design, construction, framing, building materials, drafting, or engineered wood products would be considered an asset.
